I was intrigued by the premise of this book and the first issue sure gives me hope that this series will deliver a wild, imaginative story. When the Earth’s population hits the eight billion mark, every person is given their own personal genie with one wish. That force of love is a powerful theme throughout the series, driving two biological families, and one found family, to seek out refuge and opportunity in a dangerous and a chaotic world.

It's fascinating to consider the implications, and the wildness of some of the wishes leaves room for some fantastic artwork. One person who wishes for a lightsaber accidentally starts a fire that engulfed all of downtown Detroit. It grabbed me so well at the start and held the grip for the first three-quarters, maybe even a little more, and only slipped towards the end. PORTAGE PARK — Imagine a small genie suddenly appears before you, empowered to grant you exactly one wish. In-Series Nickname: Humanity ends up using the name "G-Day" for the day when the eight billion genies appeared.Ernest Hemingway, Dorothy Parker, and Jim Morrison were all avid drinkers and the Remnants of them produced from people's wishes are no different. Repetitive Name: Lampwick Bar and Grill is owned by Will Williams, a Properly Paranoid Cool Old Guy who acts as the voice of reason in the story.

The Man in the Moon: The Moon now has a face, a huge mouth filled with teeth, and eats anything that gets close enough to it. We all love to fantasize about being rich or having superpowers or everyone loving us, but I bet most of us haven't thought this whole thing through. The art by Ryan Browne was very nice, and had a sort of old school feel to it, like those old science fiction books. About twenty worlds back, someone was so attached to their genie they couldn't imagine letting them go.They spend almost all of their page time drinking at Will's bar and refusing to pay until Will complains.

It's effective not just against the direct wishing, but also the indirect consequences, such as the afore-mentioned carasaurus failing to so much as dent the seemingly much more fragile Lampwick Bar. Much as I enjoyed the first half of the series, this is where I got doubly engrossed in how the politics and influence played out. We're now exploring the FIRST EIGHT YEARS after G-Day, the moment when everyone on Earth got a genie and one wish.
