Published in a new larger format, this uncut edition keeps to Bowie and Rock's original vision, allowing us to explore Moonage Daydream the way the authors intended.

This the blurb from the dustwrapper: "Moonage Daydream is the most complete detailed exploration of one of rock'n'roll's greatest creations: Ziggy Stardust.

During the entire book one cannot slip the feeling of Bowie being an icon in so many ways, staying humble through his own words, debunking myths (once as "tosh") and glorifying the people who helped him to garb, make-up and generally help him in a variety of ways, not least Mick Ronson and Mick Rock. An extravagant coffee-table book that collects Mick Rock's photographs of the chameleon rock star as Ziggy Stardust . We take pride in offering a wide selection of used books, from classics to hidden gems, ensuring there is something for every literary palate.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars made Bowie a household name and left a milestone on the highway of popular music, rewriting the terms of the performer's contract with his audience and ushering in a new approach to rock's relationship with artifice and theatre that permanently altered the cultural aesthetic of the twentieth century. The rock n’ roll icon Ziggy Stardust made his indelible mark on the world of pop music back in the early ’70s. His sharp, often humorous text discusses the origins of the Ziggy Stardust stage persona, comments on Mick Rock's photographs, and gives unprecedented insight into Ziggy's stratospheric two-year career. Ziggy Stardust blazed briefly but intensely, and I am delighted to see his life and times as a rock'n'roll star immortalised in this book. They capture the span of Ziggy's 18-month reign: the early English concerts where Ziggy and the Spiders made their name; Rock's classic images of Bowie at home at Haddon Hall; Bowie's collaboration with Lindsay Kemp in the ground-breaking shows at The Rainbow; the breakthrough tour of the USA; the massive sell-out UK tour culminating in Ziggy's retirement; recording Pin Ups in Paris; and Ziggy's final swansong, the flamboyant 1980 Floor Show.

Rock's camera caught more of the Ziggy legend than any other and followed Bowie into hotel rooms and dressing rooms, on the road and socialising with musicians and friends including Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and Mick Jagger. In 1972 David Bowie released the instant classic The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars —a record without which any Greatest Albums of All Time list is simply incomplete. I rarely pre-warned the band of things that I might get up to, as many interesting ideas were shot down before they were even hatched, such was the conservative disposition of those particular arthropods, Mick usually the main offender. This is almost a photographic record of Bowie's kick-off into stardom as he is about to release "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars". Celebrating 50 years of Ziggy Stardust, the Anniversary Edition presents Moonage Daydream as the authors intended.Oversized purple cloth in illustrated dust jacket, boldly signed by photographer Mick Rock on the front free endpage, NOT signed by Bowie. Moonage Daydream is the most complete, detailed exploration of one of rock 'n' roll's greatest creations: Ziggy Stardust. The photographs, while not all perfect shots, are beautiful, and David's commentary is both fun and insightful.

In keeping with the strategy of its subject, the book blurs the identity tracks combining public appearances (concerts, press conferences, photo session) to the intimacy of the artist (lodges, travel), to appear in the be. The closest we'll ever get to a straight up Bowie autobiography -- but who'd ever want anything straight-up from Bowie? One photo that particularly amused me is on page 276: It's the aftershow party following the final Ziggy gig and Bowie is sat with Mick Jagger. A woman has come over and is leaning into Bowie, cutting Jagger out of the conversation - if looks could kill. Legendary rock photographer Mick Rock is often referred to as 'The Man Who Shot the Seventies', for his iconic images of Syd Barrett, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Queen, the Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Blondie, Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc. There isn't much to say, but it is a truly beautiful book and if you love Bowie, you'll love Moonage Daydream.
