This year the London Concours celebrated 50 years of the Porsche 911 RS by gathering together 50 examples that allowed visitors to chart the evolution of the car and savour a visual history of Porsche performance. Last year’s Retro Show felt a bit sparse, but hopefully this year’s event won’t suffer from peak fuel prices! We enjoyed the action anyway, with show and shine, drag racing, and drifting.

Taking place in the glorious grounds of Heveningham Hall, the Heveningham Concours is now regarded as among the UK’s best annual car and aeroplane shows. This year’s event had a Le Mans theme, hosting two very 1990s racing cars – the Mercedes CLK LM and Porsche 911 GT1 Evo. These two were joined in a display of over 50 other iconic vehicles on the garden terraces, while aeroplane enthusiasts explored a dozen or so historic propeller aircraft on display nearby. Visitors also enjoyed the action on Horsepower Hill, a ‘drag race’ along a parkland road. 10. The event that is to many the star of the calendar of British motoring events took place on July 13-16, though the Saturday was cancelled due to forecast extreme winds. This year’s event celebrated 100 years of the Le Mans 24 Hours race, with many Le Mans-winning cars and drivers creating a truly memorable weekend that no Le Mans 24 Hours fan will have wanted to miss. The Classic Touring Car Racing Club is delighted to confirm that its flagship event, Super Touring Power, will return for a second edition in 2024. Following the outstanding success of The Classic Touring Car Racing Club’s 2023 champions have been confirmed, as shown below. Of those dates, eight will be race weekends focused on the club’s own race championships and series, while the HSCC will also be the organising club for Classic Silverstone at the end of August and the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone in early November. It’s sixty years since Jim Clark won the Gold Cup, so the Jim Clark Trust will be in attendance, and no doubt a few of his cars too. Otherwise, expect some great historic racing at the picturesque Cheshire circuit. From Arna to Aperta everything Italian will be welcome at Brands Hatch in August. Last year was a scorcher, and not just in the bright reds and yellows that dominate the Italian car scene. After a few years affected by the pandemic, Race Retro should be pretty solid for 2023, and we can once again get our fix, with a particular focus on rallying thanks to the live stage outside.
