About this deal

Full and clear on rhubarb, citrus fruits, redcurrants and yogurt. Various herbs, almost like a sterrenmunt tea. Vanilla fudge and honey provide sweetness, while it also has a mineral edge. Aultmore 12 Year Old is an ex-bourbon matured, unpeated single malt Scotch whisky intended to compete with entry level offerings from Diageo and Chivas. On the surface, it appears to do everything right: it’s age stated, non-chill filtered, of natural color and bottled at 46% ABV. How does it compare to thecompetition? If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect.Evocative prose, indeed. You would be forgiven for thinking the distillery looked like something right out of Outlander. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”). My cousin Jayson and I frequently participate in bottle splits and share samples of new releases. When possible, I’ll share his tasting notes alongsidemine. Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”).

The whisky is 100% malted barley, aged in ex-bourbon barrels, bottled at 46% abv, and the distillery is located in Keith, Banffshire (Speyside region of Scotland). The name Aultmore is derived from the Gaelic word Ant-Allt Mor which means “big burn”. The “big burn” refers to the water source the Auchinderran Burn. A “burn” is a spring or source of water.Spring in a glass: grassy, lemon, green apple, hops, and freshly cut flowers. A bit sweeter after a while with apple juice, limoncello and malt sugars, but also some coriander, fresh laundry and kiwi's appear. About a year ago at Malt Nuts we tasted a lineup of 12 different Aultmores, all of which came from NDPs, and I feel confident saying this Aultmore 12 Years is a decent representation of the distillery character. It ranks as high or better than 9 of the 12 bottles we tried that evening and it’s hard to ask for more out of an entry level whisky. In 1923it became part of the John Dewar & Sons estate and has remained so ever since. In fact, so highly prized is it as a blending malt that it is said that when Bacardi was in the process of buying Dewar’s from Diageo, it was willing to walk away from the deal if Aultmore wasn’t included.

Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. More fruity now (citrus, apple, strawberry). Fennel seed, roasted peanuts, a bit mineral again. Maybe some cardboard, which brings it down. The Service has been prepared by us solely for information purposes to Members and the Service is based on information we consider reliable and we obtain the contents of the Service from a number of different third party sources (including Contributions), but we do not endorse, support, represent, warrant or guarantee the completeness, truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of the Services and any information therein. Nose: Sweet apple crumble with crisp burnt sugar and biscuity crumb, hearty notes of tea loaf, Madeira cake, and Biscoff. Chocolate caramel and fruity fig add to the sweet treat vibes with buttery oak building beneath.
