We think the Air Stretch Max Pet provides excellent value for money. It’s not the best vacuum for cleaning carpets that we’ve reviewed, but it still does a decent job at removing dirt, hair and other debris. The Vax is also excellent for cleaning hard floors and has a huge cleaning radius, which we think makes it more convenient than many other uprights. There are several accessories included with the Vax U85-AS-Pme Air Stretch. These aren’t the highest quality tools we’ve reviewed, but are good enough for most tasks. These features add up to an excellent vacuum cleaner for a great price. The Air Lift Steerable Pet is one of the most popular Vax models on the market – and for good reason. It’s highly versatile, due to its attachments and removable canister, plus it has powerful suction (especially considering the price). A bonus is that the vacuum is easy to empty, although the open design means we don’t recommend it for allergy sufferers.

Replacement Type 90 Filter Kit to fit Vax Upright Vacuum Cleaner. HEPA (High Efficient Particle Arrester) filters trap very small dust particles, so they are better for homes with allergy sufferers. Other features include a turbo tool, which is great for getting rid of pet hair in upholstery, and a 3-in-1 accessory. It doesn’t come with a HEPA filter though – for that you’ll need the Air Lift Advance model.

The Vax is a multi-cyclonic bagless vacuum, which (in theory) means it shouldn’t lose suction. It also has a motorised brush bar, which can be switched off for hard floors, along with a turbo pet tool for cleaning awkward areas. It’s worth noting that Vax recommends replacing the HEPA filter every 1-2 years, depending on how often you vacuum. This adds to the lifetime cost of the vacuum cleaner. You’ll also need to regularly clean the pre-motor filter to ensure the vacuum continues to be effective. Emptying & Cleaning However, if you’re looking for a vacuum cleanerthat’s relatively lightweight, has a long hose, and is simple to use, then the U85-AS-Pme Air Reach Pet Max is an excellent option. It doesn’t have the detachable canister of the Air Lift, but it is one of the best Vax vacuum cleaners – particularly for hard floors. In summary, we think the Air Lift Steerable Pet is one of the best Vax vacuum cleaners on the market at the moment. It’s especially good if you have a cat, dog or other pet. The turbo tool is perfect for removing pet hair, but it also excels at almost any other cleaning job and the detachable canister makes vacuuming stairs much easier.

It also has a large dust bin, meaning it can easily accommodate large amounts of dust and debris without the need for frequent emptying.The Vax U85-AS-Pme is part of the “Air Stretch” range. Vax vacuums in the Air Stretch series all have long power cords, but, unlike the Air Lift range, don’t have a lift-away cylinder. Another feature we like is that the ONEPWR comes with a removable battery. Batteries are often the first components to need replacing on cordless vacuums, and the Vax makes it easy. In fact, you’ll probably be surprised at how much dust and dirt the U85-AS-Pme is able to pull from carpets, even if they’ve recently been cleaned with other vacuums. As anyone with long hair knows, it’s important to remove hair from a vacuum’s brush bar. Vax recommends cutting hair from the U85-AS-Pme, although you can remove the brush bar if it needs to be replaced. We don’t think it’s the most manoeuvrable vacuum on the market, but the steerable design does help when vacuuming around the home. We also like that it has a lightweight cylinder that can be lifted from the main body for easier stair cleaning, which helps solve a common issue for upright vacs. Instead of trying to compete with premium cordless vacuum cleaners, most of Vax’s cordless models are at the lower end of the price spectrum. This doesn’t mean they aren’t worth buying though – and the Vax ONEPWR Blade 4 Pet is one of the best examples of Vax’s cordless vacuums that we’ve reviewed so far. As we mentioned earlier, you can turn off the brush bar when vacuuming hard floors. This prevents scratching and stops larger debris from being scattered across the floor. It’s never going to match the best upright vacuums for cleaning performance, but we think it’s hard to beat in this price range. Suction Power & Cleaning Performance The U85-AS-Pme (the model reviewed in this article) is the pet version of the Air Reach, so it comes with a pet turbo tool. The U85-AS-Be is similar in most respects, but doesn’t have a turbo tool. Place your hand over the hole located on the top right hand side of the machine, this is where the lid of the dirt container is normally attached to. Vax produces a range of vacuums in almost every category. This includes upright vacuums, cylinder, handheld, steam cleaners and cordless – although they are best known for their upright models.
