Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is a teaching hospital where we train students and conduct research. Whilst recognising that you need not assist in teaching or research, it is hoped that you will wish to help us if asked to do so. Please inform the staff if you do not wish students to be present during your consultation.

Remind relatives and friends not to visit you if they have any signs or symptoms of illness, and ask them to read this informationThe Prosthetic and Orthotic Department is within the Specialist Rehabilitation Service at Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen. In addition to adult and paediatric out-patient appointments, clinicians are involved with treating in-patients at Woodend Hospital and in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The Prosthetic service assess and fits both upper and lower limbs for those with amputations or congenital abnormalities. The Orthotic services assess for orthoses to improve, correct, immobilise or reduce pain for patients. The patient group for both disciplines is very diverse ensuring every day will present a variety of patients with no two days alike. I would like to become a Prosthetist/Orthotist Participate in an individual risk assessment and any risk discussion relating to safe placement of volunteers post pandemic Embedding these values in everything that we do is an important part of our vision to improve health and reduce inequalities; deliver high quality care in the right place; involve our patients, public, staff and partners; and develop and empower our staff. Providing appropriate training and support to our volunteers underpins those values and helps us provide a rewarding volunteering experience within a safe environment for staff and volunteers to provide the highest standard of care to our patients.

Any medicines which you still require will be returned to you on discharge.
