All the Butlin's hotels dating from the 1950s to 1990s were sold in 1998, but most are still open today under different ownership. I booked Christmas eve for August this year and got basic apartment self catering for 6 Monday to Friday 550. I would say we were more packed in at the beachcomber though - it feels like there are just as many people and tables as pre covid times so if you're not comfortable with lots of people/tables VERY close to others then maybe avoid.

There were a lot of disgruntled people on the Facebook group I joined saying they had been unable to book anything – though they said you could still join a standby queue and would almost certainly get in as people book activities and then don’t go to them. Whilst I can't fault that the issue was sorted nice and quickly, it would have been nicer for reception to be manned for any issues.It’s really important that I have my activity plan to hand as once the bookings go live the slots get taken incredibly fast. With eight holiday centres at fantastic locations across England and Wales and accommodation on a Self Catering or Half Board basis you're sure to find your ideal family break with Pontins.

There are lots of other holiday parks that you could stay at that would have similar facilities like a pool and entertainment etc that would take your booking and that would be cheaper out of school holidays. People were also commenting that they had been told by Butlin’s representatives that more slots are released at 7am each day during your break; I went onto the app one morning just after 7 but there were no activities showing as available. However, while that might work for the bigger shows where you could get a seat at the back (the standby queue is let in after people with tickets) you are less likely to be able to do one of the smaller activities. Butlin’s activities are currently going live around 28 days (31 days for VIP guests) before a break is due, however from my experience this can vary.
