Description

In fact, the majority of dogs never give a circular tail wag. However, this doesn’t mean they’re any less happy or enthusiastic – they just express it differently! Does a Round-and-Round Wag Always Mean Happiness? Fingle Bridge is referred to as one of the most enchanted spots of mid-Devon, and the area offers two different walks. The easier choice is to wander up the less steep side of the valley, which is accessed by crossing the bridge and turning right. This is a great choice if your dog loves water -they can splash around to their heart'scontent, and there are no lead restrictions. Where are your favourite places to walk? Let us know in the comments below so we can give them a go sometime. Residents and visitors of the New Forest can take a look at and join the New Forest Dog Owners Group. This Group promote responsible dog ownership in the New Forest and have a brilliant Dog Walking Code for all dog owners/walkers in the New Forest to follow, to ensure the safety of the dogs and our unique wildlife and nature in the New Forest.

This is a circular walk from the village of Monyash. The Bulls Head in Monyash is a very dog friendly pub and th e Old Smithy Tea rooms next door is a dog friendly cafe. This gives you a choice of refreshment stops once you’ve finished the walk. Another circular walk, this trail explores both the countryside and takes you along the main street in the village of Horning. Popular stops along the way include the Parish Church in Horning, the Radar Museum (situated at RAF Neatishead) and the 13th Century Parish Church of St Benedict. Not to forget the countless quaint shops in Horning, and some fantastic pubs offering great food and drinks to fuel your journey. The Horning Circular Walk is a great place for you and your dog to visit, perfect for those hoping to do some shopping for some unique gifts, or for any history enthusiast wanting to learn more about local history. A circular wagging tail is a sign of happiness, but “happy tail syndrome” is a much more upsetting issue. A city-centre retreat, Roundhay Park is loved by locals and visitors alike, it’s the winner of Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘Best Public Park’ award. Known as one of the biggest city parks in Europe there’s 700 acres of parkland, woodland, lakes and gardens with nearly a million people visiting each year. There’s plenty of free parking and loads of space for the dogs to have a run-around, play fetch and enjoy the outdoors. This may have resulted in some separation anxiety, so the last thing you want to do, once you’re able to again, is to go on holiday without them!

About Us

These walks were compiled several years ago and in some cases there have been some changes since then. We will endeavour to update them as best as possible but please be aware of the following:

Not all of our favourite dog walks in East Yorkshire are in the Wolds though, here’s a few more great hikes that this pair of intrepid spaniels love. This trail is a short easy access route, but you can easily extend your adventure for as long as you’d like. Within just this short walk, you’ll weave between huge conifers, including the 197 foot high Douglas Fir, the tallest tree in the country. It’s just a little bigger than the average Christmas tree.

If you type SK17 6SX into google maps, you’ll be able to see whereabouts it is situated within the Goyt Valley. For more information about this walk please visit: www.alltrails.com/trail/england/oxfordshire/minster-lovell-and-crawley-circular You can book the entire space for exclusive use, at prices not to be sniffed at, or arrange a group trip. Thanks to the rabbit-proof fencing, you won’t have distracting wildlife or the risk of your pup running off. And given you can book the entire space, you know you and your pooch won’t be interrupted mid-walk or training session. It’s the ideal space to walk and train your dog and build your confidence together. The country park is also home to a herd of beautiful red deer including the majestic stag named ‘William’ and so we would remind owners to please keep your dog on a lead during your visit. Staithes and Port Mulgrave is an atmospheric old fishing village with beautiful harbourside cottages, winding alleys and cobbled streets. A typically picturesque English coastal village. Take a walk along the quiet lanes, through fields and along the cliffs with your pooch. The quiet scenic village and surrounding areas have plenty of places you can let your dog off the lead and have a run-around. Make sure if you’re on the clifftop to keep your dog on a short lead as there is a steep drop. The longer version of this delightful walk is of moderate difficulty, but the 3 mile version avoids the steeper climbs, so may be more appropriate as a dog-friendly day out in the Cotswolds. There are a number of wonderful little pubs and cafes in Chipping Campden to refresh yourself after (or before!) the route. This is considered as the “entrance” to The Cotswold Way, so enjoy it and take in all the scenery! This is a lovely Bakewell dog walk. It is a pleasant circular dog walk around Bakewell, which follows part of the Monsal Trail and includes a public bridleway and some roads. You’ll get some spectacular views of Bakewell as you make the return journey across the fields. Apart from the initial walk up the hill towards Bakewell Station, the rest of the walk is relatively flat and easy going. It would be criminal to compile a list of walks around Somerset and not include a route that takes you around one of the country’s most iconic landscapes. The largest gorge in Britain, it was made famous by the cheese aged in the caves here, a practice that has been continued for centuries. These caves were also home to the oldest human skeleton found in Britain. There are several common tail wag types you might observe in your furry friend. Here are a few examples:

has been an unsettling time for many, but have you stopped to consider the impact it may have had on your four-legged friend? There is a dog friendly café over on the eastern side of the lake and if you don’t fancy the circular walk you could just park at the café car park and have a little wander round – Hornsea mere is the biggest fresh water lake in Yorkshire so it would be a shame to miss it completely! The village of Dunster is a great place to start your walk where you can pop into the various shops, pubs and tea rooms before your visit to the castle and its gardens. The Foresters Arms and Stags Head Inn will welcome you and your pup, as well as the Chapel House tea room. So, whether you’re looking for a dog friendly holiday for 2021 or if you’re local to us and looking for a change of scenery for you and your dog, then why not take a look at our list of the fantastic dog walks around the Norfolk Broads and the surrounding area? In the vast majority of cases, a dog wagging their tail in a circular pattern is feeling happy and excited. It’s rare for this body language signal to mean anything else, although some dogs wag in a circle when they are feeling over-aroused or anticipating a reward.
